This week we continued our work on Step 12, in our new format on “The Principles and Promises of Step 12 in the AA Big Book.”
We read and discussed “To Wives” in the AA Big Book up to page 113:3.
We also read and completed “A Disease of the Spirit” from the appendixes in the brown book Overeaters Anonymous. (98:1)
During our next meeting, I would like us to continuing reading the chapters in the AA Big Book.
I read briefly today from the book “The 7 Key Principles of Successful Recovery” by Mel B. and Bill P. We can read more from this book, if there is interest.
In addition, while we are reading “To Wives” I thought people might be interested in reading and discussing the pamphlet “The Wife of the Alcoholic – A Pattern To Happiness” by Lewis F. Presnall. This pamphlet was published in 1959 by the Utah Alcoholism Foundation (ISBN: B005HBOZM). I happened to have a used original copy, which is very interesting.
If not, we can continue reading the AA Big Book.
The homework is to read and highlight the sections in the AA Big Book Chapter 8 “The Wives” and write on what you highlight.
The goal is to have our own personal experience of what the AA Big Book means to us.
Every time before you begin doing any part of the reading or writing, remember to say the “Set Aside Prayer” and bring your spiritual awareness of God, as you understand Him, into this process.
We recover for the sole purpose of carrying the message to those who still suffer and to be of maximum service to God and others.
Looking forward to “seeing” you all next week!
With blessings for recovery and peace,
Shira
