This week we w read the story The Vicious Cycle in the AA Big Book, and then discussed it together.
The notes I have are:
We have to practice what we preach: “In pointing out to the new man his wrong attitudes and actions is really taking my own inventory; if I expect him to change, I have to work on myself too.” (AA BB: 230:1)
The best way to learn something is to teach it.
We also read the chapter “The Will Of God” in the book The Spiritual Self by Dr. Abraham Twerski (2000: Hazelden).
This is a wonderful book that I have been reading lately.
A nice quote from this chapter is: “We can only arrive at what is truly God’s will if we eliminate the personal interests that are the products of our character defects.” (p.83:1)
For our next meeting, we will continue with our step study and read The Doctor’s Opinion in the AA Big Book.
