Sponsoring Through The Steps

The following “manual” was originally posted June 1, 2015 as an attachment. A number of people have told me they find it useful, but some others have had trouble with downloading the attachment. Because of possible usefulness, downloading trouble, and updating,  I decided to post the updated version as a main post.

There are many approaches to guiding someone through the 12 Steps. Some use the Big Book exclusively, some use the OA 12&12, some the AA 12&12, and some – like me – use all three, plus other materials. Following is my approach to taking someone through the Steps. It contains the introduction and basic requirements – especially staying abstinent – and all the questions I ask them to write on and discuss with me. The guide does not contain the Step 4 and 5 guide I developed for personal use in the late 80’s and still use with sponsees. It is lengthy and certainly not OA literature…
