Our meetings are stored on a Media Fire account.

As a reminder, our group takes place on Sunday mornings at 5:30 AM EST.

Please join us as we “trudge the Road of Happy Destiny.” (AA Big Book 164:3)

This we continued with reading the AA Big Book using the Unofficial Guide.

We read up to page 63.  Just for fun, we read and noted the changes in the 4th edition of the AA Big Book compared to the Original Manuscript.

Interestingly, there were changes made to the later editions of the AA Big Book which softened the message and made the tone of the book gentler. Personally, I wonder if this has contributed to the lower recovery rates today compared to when program first started.

Ossnath shared her beautiful insights from taking a new person through the steps: “The goal of doing an inventory and the steps, is not to fix the problem. It is to take our feelings of resentment and fear and turn them over to God and connect to Him.

True serenity and peace of mind comes when we fill ourselves with God’s spirit rather than turning to the food.”

forgiveness-and-heart

Home work: In your notebook write those things about God which you cannot believe. On another page, write what you do believe about God.

List in your notebook examples of how you have been self-centered in the past.

Next week I would like us to share on the homework, and take Step 3 as a group before moving on by reading the next story in the AA Big Book.

Here are the questions from the Unofficial Guide which may also be helpful:

Unofficial Guide

Do you question whether or not you are capable of being honest with yourself? (If you do, you are not.)

Note the state of mind you are asked to have when you start the Steps – honesty, fearlessness, thoroughness and a willingness to go to any length.

What is the value of half measures?

Are you convinced a life run on self-will can hardly be successful?

Can you see the effects of self-centeredness in your life?

How have you been self-centered?

Did you know that you cannot significantly reduce self-centeredness by wishing or by trying on your will-power? (Page 62)

Are you willing to make the decision that is set forth at the bottom of page 62?

(Note the promises on page 63 that follow the Third Step.)

Are you sincerely willing to take this Step?

Personally, I have been looking at the questions that we had discussed during our BBA, which are very powerful!

Here are links to documents on the blog to help with developing a conception of God:

After that we will begin Step 4 by reading the OA 12 & 12.

I am so grateful to be sharing this journey with all of you!

Thank you all for sharing your experience, strength and hope.

“Together we can do what we can never do alone.”

In love and service,

Shira
