Meditation & Freedom From Bondage To Self

Hi Everyone!

Someone sent me this quote and I thought I would make it into a picture:

Our perceptions of the world around us are filtered by the quality of our thoughts and feelings.

When we change our perceptions, our experience of the world changes too.

By practicing prayer and meditation, we learn to watch our thoughts and feelings rather than react to them.

We pause.

And then, we ask God to direct our thinking.

Over time, we learn to respond to life rather than react to it.

We transform our lives!

As it says in the AA Big Book:  “Our thought life will be placed on a much higher plane when our thinking is cleared of wrong motives.” (page 86)

And, “our thinking will, as time passes, be more and more on the plane of inspiration.” (pp 87)

As addicts, we lack discipline, so “we let God discipline us in the simple way we have just outlined.”

The spiritual life is not a theory, we have to live it!

Looking forward to to seeing everyone tomorrow.

With blessings for recovery and peace,

Shira
